Employee Benefits - US
Leave Policy
The Company provides paid vacation, holiday, and sick
time for eligible employees.
Metavante Lending Solutions Vacation Policy
Metavante recognizes the importance for employees to enjoy
periodic rest and relaxation so they may continue to
perform effectively. As a result, all regular full time
employees are eligible for vacation benefits.
All regular full time employees are eligible for vacation
time. In the first full year of employment, full time
employees, other than those with a Senior Vice President
or Vice President title, are entitled to ten vacation
days. The first two vacation days are earned after ninety
days of service.
Full time employees with a Senior Vice President or
Vice President title receive fifteen vacation days in
the first full year of employment. The first three vacation
days are earned after ninety days of service.
Part time employees working a minimum of twenty hours
per week receive five vacation days in the first full
year of employment. The first vacation day is earned
after ninety days of service. Part time employees working
less than twenty hours per week, contractors and other
temporary employees are not eligible for vacation time.
In the first calendar year of employment, employees
accrue a pro-rata number of vacation days. Vacation
time is accrued monthly during each calendar year (i.e.,
vacation is accrued monthly at 1/12 of the annual vacation
time).
At any time during the year, employees may not use
more than three days of vacation time in excess of what
they have accrued. At the end of the calendar year,
employees may not have used more vacation time than
they have accrued and carried over from the previous
year.
The amount of vacation time increases with years of
service for full time employees. At the end of each
year of service (i.e., the employee’s anniversary
date), full time employees will accrue an additional
vacation day, up to a maximum of twenty vacation days
per year. Thereafter, at the end of each year of service,
full time employees will earn an additional half-day
of vacation, up to a maximum of thirty vacation days
per year.
At the end of each year of service, part time employees
working a minimum of twenty hours per week will accrue
an additional half-day vacation, up to a maximum of
ten vacation days per year. Thereafter, at the end of
each year of service, part time employees working a
minimum of twenty hours per week will accrue an additional
quarter-day vacation for each year of service, up to
a maximum of fifteen vacation days per year.
For security purposes, employees are required to be
away from work for five consecutive workdays each calendar
year. If an employee is eligible for five vacation days
or less (e.g., a new hire), this requirement may be
waived by the employee’s manager. A legal holiday
falling within the dates of a vacation period is not
counted as one of the 5 consecutive vacation days.
Employees should spread out the use of their vacation
time throughout the year. Employees are not permitted
to take more than a total of ten days of vacation or
personal time in any calendar quarter unless they have
received approval from their supervisor and the Executive
Vice President of their Business Unit (or the President
in the case of Corporate staff).
A maximum of five days may be carried over from the
end of one calendar year to the next. Any unused days
in excess of five will be forfeited without pay on January
1st of each year. In exceptional circumstances, employees
may be permitted to carry over more than five days with
the written approval of the VP Human Resources and an
Executive Vice President or the President. Unused vacation
time may not be waived for extra pay. Employees who
are on FMLA leave, a medical or short or long-term disability
leave, or personal or military leave will not accrue
vacation time while on leave.
Employees and supervisors must plan vacation time in
advance to ensure that potential conflicts, client service
levels and other issues are addressed. Vacation time
requests must be submitted in writing or via e-mail
to the employee’s direct supervisor. Vacation
time should be approved in advance by an employee’s
direct supervisor as long as the employee has provided
ample advanced notice and there is no mission critical
work for which the employee is needed during the requested
vacation period.
Employees who observe a religious holiday when GHR
locations are open for business may use vacation and/or
personal time to attend religious services/activities.
Employees should submit requests in advance to their
department supervisor or manager for time off to observe
religious holidays on any dates GHR is open for business.
Every effort will be made to accommodate employee requests
for time off to attend religious services.
Upon termination, eligible employees who have provided
at least two weeks advance notice will be paid for any
unused and accrued vacation time at the time of their
resignation. In addition, for any used vacation time
that has not yet been accrued, the Company reserves
the right to adjust the employee’s final paycheck
accordingly.
Vacation time is paid at the employee’s base
pay rate at the time of vacation. It does not include
overtime or any special forms of compensation such as
incentives, commissions, bonuses or shift differentials.
Personal Time
Personal time off is a new element of the Paid Time
Off Policy. Personal time off is provided in lieu of
the “Floating Holidays” that existed under
the previous policy.
All regular full time employees are eligible for twenty-four
hours of personal time annually. Part time employees
working a minimum of twenty hours per week are eligible
for twelve hours of personal time annually. Part time
employees working less than twenty hours per week, contractors
and other temporary employees are not eligible for personal
time.
Personal time must be approved in advance by an employee’s
direct supervisor. Employees and supervisors should
plan personal days in advance to ensure that potential
conflicts, client service levels and other issues are
addressed.
Personal time may not be carried over from one calendar
year to the next. Unused personal time at the end of
each calendar year will be forfeited without pay. Personal
days may not be waived for extra pay.
Employees are not paid for unused personal time upon
termination.
